As a young teenager, I experienced muscle fatigue and exhaustion after even minimal exercise. Aged 24 years I was diagnosed with the connective tissue disorder, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) are a group of rare inherited conditions that affect connective tissue. 80% of our bodies are made up of connective tissues, which provide support in skin, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, internal organs and bones – the ‘glue’ that holds us together.
EDS can affect people in different ways – symptoms include joint hypermobility, fatigue, chronic pain and functional digestive disorder. For some, the condition is relatively mild, while for others their symptoms can be severely disabling.
